(WASHINGTON, DC) Due to increased interest in the operations and security at the Panzi Hospital in Democratic Republic of Congo, the Panzi Foundation USA released the following statement from the president of the Panzi Foundation USA Board of Directors, Dr. Denis Mukwege, who founded the Panzi Hospital and serves as the Medical Director:
“I am encouraged by the outpouring of support for the women and children, my colleagues and myself, at the Panzi Hospital.
“The care we provide recognizes each girl and woman’s need for psychosocial services, vocational training, transitional housing, and legal assistance before and after their medical treatment.
“The Panzi Hospital is a sanctuary where women have the opportunity to heal and restore their lives in a safe, secure environment. This is the priority of the Panzi Hospital and Foundations
