Supporting new mothers and their babies.

Panzi’s midwifery program provides compassionate, holistic care to new mothers, and support for mothers who are survivors of sexual violence.

Holistic Birthing Model

At Panzi’s maternity ward, Panzi’s compassionate midwives are trained to be sensitive to a survivor’s trauma and make the process as comfortable as possible.

The maternity ward has an outdoor, private terrace where women can go during labor to feel fresh air, hear birds, and see the greenery of the trees around them.

Baby kits for new mothers

All mothers who participate in Panzi’s midwifery program receive newborn kits that include baby soap, clothes, a blanket, a toy, and an infant cap.

These kits help new mothers emotionally prepare for the birth of their children. For some, these are all of the items they have for their babies.

Help us welcome little ones

Because of the number of babies delivered at Panzi each year, we rely on our trusted friends and partners who donate their time to hand-knit these caps with love.

If you are interested in contributing, please send hand-made baby caps, blankets, or clothes to our US Office:
